Future demand and the rise of liquefied natural gas

Analysts expect the use of natural gas to grow, worldwide, in the United States, and in California. In many cases, natural gas use may replace oil use. Natural gas may increasingly be transported not by pipeline but in liquefied form.

In California, an increasing number of power plants are gas-fired. To assure a future supply, California plans to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Mexico.
